While in optometry school, Dr. Pulsfus had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Ecuador to provide eyecare and glasses to communities in need. During her trip, she was amazed by how many people’s lives were adversely affected because they simply needed a pair of glasses. She made a commitment to use her education to not only serve the people in her local community, but to give back on a global level.
Since that first trip, Dr. Pulsfus has also gone on trips to Peru and the Dominican Republic. She loves seeing the joy on people’s faces when they can see for the first time! When she decided to open her own practice, Dr. Pulsfus looked into many options to continue this mission work. She decided to partner with Optometry Giving Sight which funds programs that deliver desperately needed vision care in developing communities, training of local eye care professionals, and establishment of local vision centers.
When you purchase eyewear at Bright Eyes Family Vision, you can feel great knowing that you have provided a pair of glasses for someone in need.
Here’s how the I Care and Share program works:
- You purchase a pair of glasses
- We donate part of the sale
- Someone living in a poor community can receive an eye exam and a pair of glasses that could change their life.
More than 600 million people around the world are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to basic eye care. This means that many children cannot learn at school and many parents cannot work and provide for their families.
Sight can make the difference between a life of poverty and a life of opportunity.
